A New Orleans Night

Banana emperor in bear skin
and balding
morning coffee combat versus cold life
a black pen rests
holes in the street
swallow us
whole

dirty midnight moon in your
cigarette eyes
too drunk to fuck
I can watch you undress instead
under lace and amber light
lewd into bed aglow

black trash marching single file
a fat black fly    begs
everything
it all washes away
bar dripping spit and blood
below
and yellow'd evening piss
a stranger waiting
a stranger going
graffiti eats its way along the alley like cancer
boys beating up boys
they perch
youthful petulant
stagnant virulent
a violent fuck wet in the backseat

a perch
I catch you looking over your shoulder
I catch you pulling at the inside
I watch you undress
lost in a smokey bedroom dream
everything eventually spills into the river
the trash
and the sin
my desire.
