Wine Drunk for a Decade

We should be fucking
when the wine is hitting like this

instead we're talking
talking
and talking
when the wine is hitting like this

talking carries its own satisfaction
not good enough
when we should be fucking.

Festivus Passage

Your hand finds mine in the scrum
snakes in a boobytrap tomb
I graze the waving stitch untangling from your jeans
my finger through an empty loop

a sweating man with thick lips arguing for blues
the bass guitar in your hip bones
summer heat on your long white neck
the imminent danger
the cocaine in my skunkworks.

TA

Dancehall Bathroom Graffiti

I am chewed gum and gumball brain
witchy palaver in the mirror mirror
streaks of vulva and american feminine vigor
collapse of the kitchen queens

she spins in a silver cloud
a stranger's tropical citrus cologne
salt lick whore for hard notes
a hard beer belly
a bull ring in her nose leading her to slaughter.

TA

Summer Inclination

She is so very long
hot to the touch
vodka soda sweating
cigarette decisions
sultry prayerful adventist
not to God
not to Man

above is a Southern August
the locust parade
she'll figure herself out
without me
without anybody's help
or she'll die trying.

Late Night HEB Fantasy

Is it too late to drive to the HEB
to get a honey cake?
Am I too stoned
to maneuver through self checkout
and process my own fluorescent death?
